So...how much longer will we be stuck in the "beta version"? How much more freaking "final testing" does there have to be?

It's been at least six months now that they've kept the "beta version" up, and insisted that "final testing" is still going on?

Unless Babble is going to get the ability to scramble the F-35s, what else is there that they could still possibly NEED to test?

Don't get me wrong...the "beta model" is pretty good...but this is a website for a small, left-of-centre online publication and accompanying message board, not the nuclear launch system.  How many more tests could there still even be at this point?

Not trying to be confrontational here...it's just that things kept in interminably indefinite intermediate stages like this, without any updates to project status or explanations for the delays are unnecessarily crazy-making.

Could the mods or site administrator give us at least SOME context or info here?

Yup, it's the F35's.

I wasn't really involved when the most recent technical iteration came down.  One factor which drives the speed of these things is the rate at which we can pay to have it done.  rabble's budget is small.  (somewhere on this page is an opportunity to donate btw)

As Meg is retiring soon after having been a mod for so long, Rabble.ca is taking the opportunity to re imagine babble.  My own role over the last several years is to fill in now and then for Meg's breaks, and just keep the place from burning down.  It looks like I'm going to be around a bit longer this time.  A small working group has been formed to look at possibilities and I'm part of this.  We have yet to have our first meeting.  Don't expect this to be really fast.

In terms of the nuts and bolts of the site's functioning, I am a technological illiterate, as is evidenced by the accidently banning myself incident, so that won't be my main contribution. My contribution lies more with my personal charm.

Thanks for your respose, oldgoat.
I understand the funding thing- even with that, you'd think they could at least keep people updated as to things like how much money they'd need to complete the testing and what the specific sticking points are technically.

That's not a comment on you at all OG- it's mainly about the "keep them in the dark" communications strategy Rabble has adopted on this, which is never something site users deserve.

Come to think of it, they could possibly offer a deal in which those who donate get more frequent updates about the situation, which would be an incentive for a good number of people to cough up the cash.
