The NDP should have an endorsement show...

Harper's meeting with Gretzky was kind of interesting.  It made him likeable, and showed he had support from someone that the public likes.

Perhaps Mulcair could do something like this.  So far, Donald Sutherland has said he supports Mulcair.  Likely others do as well.  Who do you think could appear on such a show?  I'm guessing Sarah Polley.  And perhaps....

 • Ed Broadbent
 • Stephen Lewis
 • David Suzuki ("Well, I don't think you're going far enough Tom, but at least you're willing to do something in the right direction, unlike Harper and that twerp Trudeau.")
 • Martha Friendly of Child Care Canada
 • Mike Myers (okay, not really sure about this one, but he doesn't seem too busy nowadays)
 • Jim Carrey (he is for gun control, and only the NDP is willing to bring back the long gun registry -- and he too is not too busy nowadays).
 • Michael Moore
 • Pamela Anderson (she said she would never vote for Harper, but otherwise I'm not sure)
 • William Shatner (he says he believes in electoral reform and protecting the environment -- okay, he'd not likely come, but it would be nice to ask)
 • Barack Obama -- I've heard that Steve isn't his favourite, and he'd likely prefer to work with another lawyer rather than whatever it is that Trudeau is.
 • Steven Page, but only if he sings If I had a Million Dollars.
 • Justin Bieber -- I don't think he cares for Harper much, and he wants to be the only prominent Justin in Canada.

Who else do you think could appear on such a show?

Luba Goy also.

All Harper has to say is this is the left wing elite trying to get your vote. These people do not appeal to the Tim Hortons/Toronto Sun/Hockey Playing/Suburban voter.

Mr. Magoo

The NDP -- or anyone, other than the Cons -- could also do a 180 and say "if your only reason to consider voting for us is because some celebrity likes us, please take some time to consider the real issues, look at the parties in your riding, and base your vote on actual politics and the desire for good governance".

Really?  It had not occurred to me that Harper might be critical of a campaign initiative by the NDP.  Good of you to point these things out terrytowel.  Well, that settles it then.

mark_alfred

Maybe Mark Critch.

As Jenni Byrne says "Will these people appeal to the folks at Tim Hortons in Fenelon Falls?”.

Are you being Facetious?

mark_alfred

No, I've never heard of her.  Though I did make a quick lookup on Wikipedia, and it seems she's a Conservative consultant or something.

Jim Carey is busy.

the Sedins?

Anyway, unless Jenny Byrne would endorse the NDP, I could care less about her in this thread (and I suspect I could care less about her outside of this thread as well.)

For all your bravado Mark, Jenni Byrne is feared on Parliment Hill and in Ottawa. She would chew you up and spit you out mark_alfred. She is vicious. That is how tough she is.

Absolutely Mary Walsh is a great Canadian.

Conservatives fear her. She is not relevant to anyone else.

He's in mourning, in fact.  His girlfriend just committed suicide.  Not a good time to ask him for anything.

I'd try to get Arcade Fire to play at the last big NDP rally in Montreal.

Anybody know who Drake supports?

bekayne

Perhaps Margaret Atwood.  She organized a big letter from artists opposing Bill C-51.  https://killc51.ca/artists-letter

Also Raffi would be in, I bet.

Mr. Magoo

Didn't Margaret Atwood have a Liberal sign on her yard during one election?  And didn't she accept Israel's dirty prize money?

I'm wondering whose side you're really on.  Are you with us or agin us?

quizzical

Gordon Pinsent   Leah Pinsent  and Peter Keleghan have all endored the NDP

Mr. Magoo

Or how about Patrick Roach, who played Randy on Trailer Park Boys?

I'm smelling a majority here.

Tonight on This Hour has 22 Minutes Mulcair will appear with Mark Critch in what has been described as a pretty funny skit.

http://www.cbc.ca/punchline/from-the-web/22-minutes-is-ready-to-call-the...

There'll be other skits about the election too, I imagine.

mark_alfred

This is why the NDP lost the election -- they didn't have the endorsement show that I suggested.
