Happy New Year!

Do you make resolutions (unfashionable as they are) and, if so, care to share?

Not me. I resolved long ago to avoid them, and I've renewed that decision annually.

Sharon

One of my Facebook friends wrote yesterday that she was going to try to not complain so much in 2014. Her commenters all agreed that they were going to be more positive, look for the good in people and situations etc. I think I'm a natural born cranky person because that sounds impossible to me!

I commented that I thought complaining very often serves a useful purpose and I was thinking of starting a new blog called, "Here's what annoys me today." No shortage of material!

However, having dismissed the positivity of resolutions: I have a treadmill which I absolutely love and I would like to use it more often and more regularly because it at least gives me the illusion of being fit and strong.

Happy New Year!

I never have. Not to say one shouldn't make firm decisions and try to stick to them, but if I wanted to do that I'd probably save it for Imbolc, or some day with a bit more relevance.

Might be a bit different if people still swept out and re-lit their hearths, rather than just party. Nowadays the only sense in which I feel a chance to renew on this day is when it comes to finances and taxation. Brand new kilometer log and calendar.

I like woody guthrie's list though:

Of course there's also the "I'm NEVER doing that again" impetus that a lot of people feel this morning. Not a good foundation for changing one's life for the better.

I've taken the liberty of making resolutions for quite a number of you.  I shall forward them by private message, and moniter progress as time permits.  Those so blessed, will be finer human beings as a result of this effort on my part.  You're welcome.

I'm feeling more virtuous already.

Just checked my PMs - nothing there. Thanks for confirming that I have attained the summit of virtue!

May take a while Unionist.  I tried to send it to my copy editor but my email was having some problems with really big attachments.

I agree with Sharon. "Not complaining" is practically an Internet blog meme. Seems very smug and bourgeois. A good rant is good for the soul.

Today I got up around 11:30.  Wandered aimlessly through the internet unti 2:00.  Went for a nap.  Got up, had cheese and crackers and tea while creeping on people's facebook accounts.  Thought about dinner, but I'm kinda full of cheese and crackers.  There's half a bag of chips somewhere if I really get hungry, so I've just opened some wine.  Back on the internet.  Just realized I'm still in my pajamas.

I hereby resolve to do my utter best to make ever day of 2014 pretty much like this one.

Sounds like fun, except that when it isn't -20, I do like to get more exercise!

I wouldn't be warm enough in my pyjamas. But the bottoms I have on are "yoga pants", pretty much the same thing. I made a ricotta, leek and greens tart a few days ago and am having some of it now. And some wine, of course.

It's been awhile since this topic has been active. A new year awaits us and I just wanted to wish every one a Happy 2023!

I am hoping every one enjoyed the holiday season and stayed safe and warm. Hard to claim 2022 as a good year but I guess there were some good news stories. With luck, next year will be much, much better.

Happy New Year. Wishing the best for everyone. My resolution remains the same as last year, build community and shrink my footprint.

Just wanna say I've done really well with this resolution, and now that I don't have to worry about such banalities of life like a job, I've really been able to take it to the next level.

Best wishes for 2023!
